Kevin Reabe DVM & Practice Founder
Dr. Reabe graduated from Waterford Kettering High School in 1970. After setting the Michigan state 880-yard record in 1969, he bettered his record to 150.9 in 1970. This record still stands today!
After winning national championships at the Junior Olympics and the Golden West Invitational with another personal best of 150.6, he had many scholarship offers. He first attended the University of Kansas, a track powerhouse, but after much thought, he chose to pursue his childhood dream in veterinary medicine and transferred to Michigan State University.
After realizing the demands of veterinary school, he quit competitive running to concentrate on his studies. He graduated with honors from Michigan State University in 1976 with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
He founded Veterinary House Call Services and served the Genesee County Area for 35+ years. He traveled most weekends to the Grand Traverse area, skiing and snowboarding in the winter and windsurfing in the summer. In 1989, Dr. Reabe opened Makin Waves Surf Shop in Acme, MI. As a competitive windsurfer, he won the Mistral Nationals in both 1989 and 1990. He moved to Traverse City in 2004 and opened East Bay Animal Hospital (now East Bay Pet Hospital).
Realizing the tremendous need for an emergency clinic and 24-hour care facility in Northern Michigan, he opened Bay Area Pet Hospital in 2010 with the goal of providing the best in these much-needed services. Dr Reabe retired from practice in 2013 and continues to co-own the hospital with his daughter, Dr. Seiple.
